Microplastic avoidance can reduce exposure by up to 70%. We go after the rest.

The sources you could find, you've already handled. The rest hide in places that don't look like plastic — a painted cap, a paper cup, a lining, a factory floor.

Here are six of them.

The cap on the

glass bottle

The cap on the

glass bottle

In 2025 the French food safety agency traced microplastics in bottled drinks to polyester paint on scratched metal caps — not to the glass. The bottle was the right choice. Nobody had thought to check the cap.

The takeaway paper cup

The takeaway paper cup

A hot drink in a standard paper cup picks up roughly 25,000 particles in fifteen minutes — from the polyethylene film that makes the paper waterproof.

The metal can

The metal can

The can is metal. The liner inside it is a polymer coating. The food only ever touches the liner.

The air in your living room

The air in your living room

Synthetic carpet, curtains, upholstery and clothing shed fibres continuously. Inhaled exposure is estimated to rival everything you eat, and none of it passes through a kitchen.

The salt

The salt

Sea salt has been measured at up to 1,674 particles per kilogram. It is seawater, evaporated. Whatever was in the water stays.

The factory, before

any of it reached you

The factory, before any of it reached you

Conveyor belts, gaskets, tubing, filters. Whatever container you chose, it was handled by plastic first.

The mechanism is  not complicated.

Kleen's active ingredient is chitosan — a fibre from shellfish shells that your body doesn't absorb. Here is where it goes, and what it does at each stage.

MEET

— in the stomach

You take Kleen with food. The chitosan travels into your digestive tract along the same route the particles did.

Bind

— in the small intestine

Chitosan's positive charge draws negatively charged particles onto the fibre. Microplastics attach to it.

Leave

— through the colon

Chitosan is not absorbed by the body. It passes through and exits — and the microplastics attached to it goes with it.

Direction of travel

Kleen works in one place: inside your digestive tract. It does not enter your bloodstream. It does not travel to your brain or organs to retrieve particles already lodged there.

Nothing does. Anyone telling you otherwise is lying.

One ingredient. One specific job.

Most supplements provide a list of ingredients that few can read or understand. This one has a single ingredient: chitosan, a fibre made from shellfish shells. That's it.

No fillers. No blends. No cheap swaps.

Here's what a fixed specification means in every serving:

Fixed Charge Density

The fibre works by holding a charge — that's what particles stick to. Most brands never tell you how much charge theirs has. We do, and it's the same in every batch.

Fixed Molecular Weight

Length changes how the fibre behaves on its way through you. Ours is made to one spec, not whatever the supplier had that week.

800 mg Daily Serving

Two capsules, thirty days. One ingredient means nothing else is taking up space in there.

Batch-Level Verification

Every batch gets tested. Scan the code on the bottle and read the results. Glass bottle, and we list what the packaging is made of.

What human studies have actually shown

Two human studies on the chitosan ingredient. The limits of each are printed at the same size as the results.

  Human study — chitosan ingredient

Blood microplastic levels fell 26.3% in 15 days.

In a 2026 controlled pilot, 11 adults took 800 mg of a characterized chitosan every day for 15 days. Ten took a placebo.

The chitosan group's measured blood microplastics dropped 26.3%.

The placebo group's did not change.

Kleen Complete uses this exact 800 mg daily dose.

Cornelli et al. (2026). PMID: 42201087

Important limitation: This was a small, short pilot of a chitosan ingredient — not a trial of Kleen Complete. We use the same 800 mg daily dose the study used.

  Human study — chitosan ingredient

Particles left the body 47% faster.

In a 2025 human crossover study, ten adults ate a standardized meal with and without chitosan. With chitosan, microplastic excreted in stool rose by roughly 47% within 24 hours — most of it polyethylene, PET, polypropylene and polystyrene.

  What Kleen does

Gives you the same 800 mg the study above used

Works in your gut, where the plastic you swallow ends up

Grabs plastic particles as your food passes through, and leaves with them

Made for every day — no cycling off, no breaks

Completes an avoidance routine that can't reach everything

What Kleen will never claim to do

Enter your brain, blood or organs

Remove plastic already lodged in tissue

Produce a completely plastic-free body

Treat any disease linked to microplastics

Replace your filter, your glass or your cookware

Make you feel anything

Why are we telling you this?

Because the list on the right is the list that sells.

Nothing you swallow can reach a particle already lodged in your brain. Not ours. Not anyone's.

So when a supplement promises to clear years of build-up or open your detox pathways, they haven't found something we missed. They're counting on you not to ask.

You've spent years checking. We'd rather lose the sale than be one more brand you can't trust.

"I'd run out of things to change"

"I switched to glass containers about six years ago, then the filter, then finally the pans. At some point you run out of things left to change and you're just sort of standing in your kitchen wondering if any of it was enough. This was the first product that didn't try to tell me I'd been doing it wrong the whole time. It just said here's the part you couldn't get to. I appreciated that more than I expected to."

"They told me I wouldn't feel anything"

"I don't feel any different and they told me upfront that I wouldn't. That's honestly the reason I trust it. Every other company wants you to feel something within a week so you'll re-order, and then you spend the whole month wondering if you're imagining it. Nobody has ever said 'you won't notice this' to me before I handed over money. It stuck with me."

"I read the 'will not do' list twice"

"I'm seventy-one and I have been sold every miracle you can think of. Usually I can tell within about two paragraphs. What got me here was the part where they list everything the product will not do — enter your organs, remove what's already there, make you feel anything. I read that section twice because I couldn't quite believe a company had written it. Then I bought it."

"I'd done everything except this"

"I've got the filter, the glass jars, the steel pan, the wooden board — the whole list. I did all of it years ago and then just sort of stopped, because there wasn't anything obvious left. The stuff you can't see or avoid was always the part I had no answer for. This is the first thing anyone's offered me that even addresses that, rather than telling me to buy another container."

"Fifteen seconds before my coffee"

"Big glass of water, two capsules, done before I've even had my coffee. I'm not a routine person and I've failed at plenty of them, but this one takes about fifteen seconds and it's attached to something I was doing anyway. It's the only thing in my cupboard I've never once had to think about, which I'd say is the highest praise I can give a supplement."

"I looked up the study before ordering"

"I looked up the study they cite before I ordered. It's small — twenty-one people, fifteen days — and the thing is, they say that themselves, right underneath the result, in the same size type. Most brands would have buried it or just not mentioned it. I'd rather have a modest number with a source I can check than a big one from nowhere."

"My daughter checked it for me"

"My daughter is the one who reads every label in the house — she's the reason I stopped buying half of what I used to. I sent her the page expecting her to find something wrong with it. She came back and said the actual numbers were printed on it, which apparently most brands don't do. If she's satisfied, I'm satisfied."

"Skipping a shipment took two clicks"

"Ordered it on a Tuesday, arrived Friday, came in glass like they said. I pushed my second shipment back a couple of weeks because I hadn't finished the first and it was two clicks — no phone call, no email asking me to reconsider, no discount offer to make me stay. That whole part is usually the worst bit of buying anything on subscription. Here it just worked."

"A boring review, which is the point"

"Easy to swallow, no aftertaste, nothing strange afterwards. Arrived in about three days in a glass bottle. I skipped a shipment last month when I realised I still had plenty left, and it took maybe ten seconds in my account with nobody trying to talk me out of it. I know that's a boring review. Boring is exactly what I was hoping for."

"It goes with dinner and that's it"

"Two capsules with dinner and that's the whole thing. I've bought supplements before that came with a whole regimen — take these in the morning, these at night, not with dairy — and they ended up in the back of the cupboard within a month. This one goes with my biggest meal and I've genuinely never forgotten it. That's not a small thing for me."

Safety and FAQ

why will i probably not feel it working?

Because a supplement you can feel is a supplement that reached your bloodstream. This one is not supposed to.

Kleen works in your digestive tract, on particles far too small to sense, and then it leaves. There is no stimulant in it, nothing that gets absorbed, and nothing designed to produce a sensation. If it made you feel something, it would be doing something other than the one job it has.

This is also why we sell it on a guarantee rather than on a feeling.

is this made from shellfish?

Yes. Chitosan is made from the shells of crab and shrimp. The allergenic protein in shellfish is concentrated in the flesh rather than the shell, and our material is processed to remove protein residue — but we are not going to tell you that makes it safe for you. If you have a shellfish allergy, do not take Kleen Complete.

who should not take it?

Anyone with a shellfish allergy. Anyone pregnant or breastfeeding. Anyone under 18. Anyone taking medication where precise absorption matters — speak to your pharmacist first.

One more, and most products don't mention it: chitosan is a binding fibre, and over long periods a binder can reduce absorption of fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K. Take your vitamins at a different meal, and if you rely on high-dose fat-soluble supplementation, raise it with your doctor.

can i take it with medications?

Space them by at least two hours in either direction. A binder cannot tell the difference between a plastic particle and your prescription.

This matters most for thyroid medication, hormonal contraceptives, and anything your doctor has told you to take at an exact time or dose. Check with your pharmacist — that is a free conversation and worth having.

should it be spaced from other supplements?

Yes, by the same two hours. Take Kleen in the morning and your other supplements at lunch. A binder cannot tell the difference between a plastic particle and your magnesium, your omega-3, or your iron.

is it suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

No. Chitosan has not been studied in pregnancy or breastfeeding, and we are not going to guess on your behalf. Do not take it.

is kleen the same as activated charcoal?

No, and there is no charcoal in it.

Activated charcoal binds by surface adsorption, and it is not selective — it takes nutrients and medications along with everything else, which is why it is used in emergency rooms for poisoning and generally not recommended for daily use. Chitosan works electrostatically: it carries a positive charge that interacts with negatively charged particles during digestion. It is also the one with human data on microplastics specifically. Charcoal has none.

can't i just buy chitosan cheaper?

Yes. Chitosan is a commodity and you can find it for a fraction of what we charge.

What you usually can't find is what's in it. Two numbers determine how much a chitosan fibre can hold onto — its charge density and its molecular weight — and most suppliers don't publish either. Without them you're buying a name, not a specification. The chitosan in a cheap bottle may perform like the one in the studies, or it may not, and there's no way to tell from the label.

Kleen holds both to a fixed range, batch after batch, and every batch is tested for contaminants with the Certificate of Analysis available by QR code. That's what the difference in price pays for.

If a supplier will publish their charge density, molecular weight and a current COA, and it costs less than ours, buy theirs. We'd rather you did that than buy an unspecified powder because it was cheap.

does it replace my filter and plastic-reduction habits?

No. Keep every one of them.

Your filter, your glass and your cookware handle roughly 70% of the exposure you can control, and nothing in a capsule does that job better.

Kleen exists for what gets past them. If you stopped the swaps and took this instead, you would be worse off, not better.

what does “standardized chitosan” mean?

That chitosan is not one substance, and we tell you which one you're getting.

Its behaviour depends on two properties — degree of deacetylation, which determines how much positive charge it carries, and molecular weight, which determines how it behaves in the gut. Every batch of Kleen is made to a fixed specification for both and tested by an independent lab.

The certificate of analysis is on the bottle, by QR code.

Most products list "chitosan" with no specification at all, or place it inside a proprietary blend so the amount is never disclosed. Ours says 800 mg on the panel because that is the dose the research used.
